>>The first thing that a first time home buyer (or any buyer) needs to do is to get him/herself qualified by a financial institution. 

How much can I afford? This would be the first reasonable question to ask.  You want to contact your financial institution or mortgage broker to provide you with a "Pre-Approval Letter".  Some of the documents that the banker/mortgage broker will ask for are detailed below.

 What are some of the documents you will need to obtain financing from a financial institution?

    FOR EACH APPLICANT:

• Two (2) forms of ID (e.g., Drivers' License and Social Security Card)
• Income tax returns for the past two (2) years including W-2's or 1099's
• The last two (2) bank statements
• Check stubs showing latest month's salary and year-to-date wages/earnings.
• Authorization to run credit check

    We do not endorse any particular bank or mortgage banker or mortgage broker, but we will be happy to provide you with a list of financial institutions that our clients have used.
